Ride For Cash Wakeboarding Comp Goes Big

The first Annual Adventure Games High Mountain Sports Ride for Cash Wakeboard Contest is in the books. This high level contest took place on Broadford Lake in Oakland, Maryland Sunday, July 27, 2008. Pro riders came from all over the mid-atlantic to take place in this contest. $2,000 was up for grabs on Sunday. Wakeboarders took a run in the morning and another ride in the afternoon with their worst score thrown out. The Wakeskate division took their shot at the podium with one run at noon. Local rider Josh Zerkel from Morgantown, WV cranked up his A Game in the afternoon to bring home third place. All of the pros were stoked with venue at Broadford Park and are planning on returning next year. The Adventure Games were organized by the Adventure Sports Center International.

Raft Racing

4 man teams pushing rubber as fast at it will go down the challenging waters of The Adventure Sports Center International's mountain-top whitewater course is the name of the game. With more adjustability than any course in the country, 75 ftp of gradient and raging whitewater, this event is just as much fun to watch as it is to compete in.

Mountain Biking

Cross-Country Mountain Bike Race

WISP Resort has miles of diverse terrain ranging from open roads to a tight, twisty single track that makes for the perfect cross-country course. Expect elevation change, wet and dry conditions, breathtaking scenery and more!

Downhill

WISP's downhill course is fast, flowy, in great shape and sure to get your adrenaline pumping!

Saturday’s cross-country mountain bike loop will be approximately 4 miles. The course is extremely technical with lots of climbing and descending. Juniors will do one lap and all others will do 2 laps.

Sunday’s downhill will be an intermediate level course. It will take about 2 to 3 minutes from top to bottom. The course consists of bank turns, small drops and rocks.

TEVA Trail Running

The Adventure Games 10k is the final race in the TEVA Trail Running Series that kicked off on April 19th.

Warning!!
This race is not for the faint hearted. The Adventure Games 10k course consists of tons of elevation change, steep hills, water crossings and rough terrain. The grueling course does pay off though with breathtaking views, unparalleled scenery and a story to last a lifetime. Visit the TEVA Trail Running Series website for pictures and more information.

Whitewater Kayaking Events

Boatercross

The Boatercross is an exciting blend of down-river racing and roller-derby, all in boat that is 8'6" feet or shorter! This is a head-to-head race down the biggest whitewater with few rules except be the first to cross the line! Mass starts, accelerating through the rapids and lots of cheers means the race is on the water. Multiple rounds with eliminations occur over the event.

Freestyle

Freestyle, which used to be referred to as “rodeo”, is grace and power combined with at sticky hole. The athletes use smaller boats that they can throw around doing tricks with names such as loops, McNasty and blunts. Each competitor has a set amount of time to perform as many maneuvers as possible in the hole. Those different moves are then scored based on their difficulty and the overall control exhibited by the competitor.

Bouldering Comp

The bouldering competition will be held in the Fork Run Recreation Area just 3 miles from the Adventure Sports Center.

There will be five routes set up on the natural boulders in fork run and in the event of a tie, the breaker will be a traverse on the 90ft circumference "360 Boulder."

Routes and scoring info is illustrated below:
